Misi Utama Nabi Muhammad Bukan Untuk mengIslamkan Dunia, Benarkah?

وَلَوْ شَاءَ رَبُّكَ لَآمَنَ مَن فِي الْأَرْضِ كُلُّهُمْ جَمِيعًا ۚ أَفَأَنتَ تُكْرِهُ النَّاسَ حَتَّىٰ يَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ

“Kalau seandainya Tuhanmu menghendaki, tentu berimanlah semua manusia di bumi. Maka apakah engkau (Muhammad) akan memaksa manusia hingga mereka menjadi orang-orang yang beriman semua?” (QS. Yunus [10]:99).

Banyak yang kaget rupanya ketika disodorkan ayat ini. Misi utama Nabi itu sejatinya bukan untuk menaklukkan dunia dan mengislamkan semua orang.

Misi Nabi itu dijelaskan oleh al-Quran sebagai rahmat untuk semesta alam, “Dan tiadalah Kami (Allah) mengutus engkau (Muhammad), kecuali untuk menjadi rahmat bagi semesta alam”(QS. Al-anbiya 21/107).

Dan dijelaskan sendiri oleh Nabi dalam satu riwayat Hadis Sahih: “Sesungguhya aku diutus untuk meyempurnakan akhlak yang mulia.”Innama bu’itstu liutammima makarimal akhlaq (HR Bukhari).

Menebar Rahmat dan memperbaiki Akhlak itulah misi utama Nabi, bukan maksa-maksa orang lain masuk Islam atau memaksa mengikuti fatwa dan tafsiran kita sendiri, atau bahkan memaksa orang lain mengikuti pilihan politik kita.

Pemaksaan terhadap orang lain itu bukan rahmat dan bukan pula akhlak yang mulia. La ikraha fi al-din. Tidak ada paksaan dalam beragama.

Tafsir Ibn Katsir menjelaskan:

“tidak perlu memaksa mereka. Barangsiapa dibukakan pintu hatinya oleh Allah maka mereka akan memeluk Islam. Barang siapa dikunci hati, pendengaran dan penglihatannya maka mereka tidak akan mendapat manfaat jikalau dipaksa masuk Islam”.

Tafsir Fi Zhilalil Qur’an mengonfirmasi bahwa “manusia telah diberi tanggung jawab untuk memilih jalannya sendiri, dan mereka pula lah yang akan bertanggungjawab atas pilihannya tersebut.”

Keimanan itu tidak perlu dipaksakan. Dakwah itu mengajak, bukan memaksa. Maka hindari cara-cara yang memaksa. QS al-Nahl 16/125 memberi kita petunjuk metode dakwah yang harus ditempuh:

Pertama, dengan hikmah, kedua, dengan mauizah (nasehat/pelajaran) yang baik dan terakhir kalau harus berdebat, bantahlah dengan argumentasi yang lebih baik.

Tidak perlu pula menjelekkan atau menghina kepercayaan orang lain. Bahkan standar moral yang luar biasa ditegaskan dalam QS al-An’am 6/108:

“Dan janganlah kamu memaki sembahan-sembahan yang mereka sembah selain Allah, karena mereka nanti akan memaki Allah dengan melampaui batas tanpa pengetahuan.”

Kita dilarang dengan tegas untuk menistakan Tuhan dan sesembahan agama lainnya. Inilah akhlak yang diajarkan al-Qur’an.

Mari kawan, kita tunjukkan pada penduduk dunia akan ketinggian ajaran Islam yang menjadi rahmat bagi semesta dan membentuk pribadi-pribadi yang berakhlak mulia.

Begitu mereka tahu maka biarkan mereka sendiri yang akan berbondong-bondong masuk Islam.

“Apabila telah datang pertolongan Allah dan kemenangan. Dan kamu lihat manusia masuk agama Allah dengan berbondong-bondong, maka bertasbihlah dengan memuji Tuhanmu dan mohonlah ampun kepada-Nya. Sesungguhnya Dia adalah Maha Penerima taubat”. (QS al-Nashr 110/1-3)
